The program will include the following:
- A panel of Christian parents of LGBTQ children will share about their own journeys after learning about their children’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
- An LGBTQ Christian panel discussion will allow parents to ask LGBTQ individuals anything that is on their mind, followed by small group discussions.
- Small group discussions for participants to connect with one another and share the questions they’re processing.
The program will run from 8:30am to 5pm on Thursday, October 28. We encourage participants to join us for the full Reconcile and Reform conference starting at 7pm that evening, but conference attendance is not a requirement to participate.
The program will be facilitated by Greg and Lynn McDonald in partnership with Shauna Habel-Morgan and Doug Habel. Greg and Lynn are the founders of a ministry called Embracing the Journey and the authors of Embracing the Journey: A Christian Parents’ Blueprint to Loving Your LGBTQ Child. They live in Atlanta, Georgia, where they pursue their passion of helping LGBTQ families become reconciled with each other and move one step closer to Jesus.
Shauna and Doug have been on this journey with their daughter since she came out in 2017. After attending The Reformation Project, they approached their large evangelical church and started the first parent support group there.
